Murder Among Friends:
Camera Movements have many effects on the viewers. They convey emotion, and cause the viewer to have different feelings based on the different camera angles. Some examples are as follows:
Crane down shot- Portrays the feeling of being dropped into the scene, or falling into a character's world.
Crane up shot- Character is small/or an obstacle that said character must overcome is large.
Very high angle to a very low angle- fear, by portraying the character as strong or opposing. Handheld camera movement- uneasiness, or danger. Strange and dangerous. It can feel both edgy and stressful.
Quick pan- Reveals something, usually dangerous, that a character will have to overcome.
Quick push in- Creates the feeling of shock, or surprise.
Slow dolly in- Creates tension and intamacy with the character (discomfort or a sense of shared emotion).
Slow dolly out- Feel empathy towards the character.
Dolly across- Either reveals action, or change the scene's emotinal direction.
Smooth glidecam shot- Creates an epic, almost dreamlike feeling of a ballet, or a dance.
Glidecam 360 reveal- Calm before the storm.
Zolly- creates an out of body feeling.
Different camera movements emphasize and create different emotions for viewers.
Filmakers incorporate camera angles to enhance their work. The use camera angles that correspond with the feelings/emotions they want to convey.
I enjoyed the project a lot, though it was difficult to get some of my group to get to work. It was interesting to write the storyline, and the camera angles were enjoyable to work with. One recommendation is to focus, even for a few minutes, on what each camera angle looks like, because we had to google what a few of them were.
